PHOENIXBORN
Phoenixborn
Book 1 of the Luminaria Chronicles
Lyra Vale survives Aurion by making herself useful to the Crimson Accord, the ruthless syndicate that owns the city’s thieves. When they give her an impossible assignment, refusing isn’t an option.
Infiltrate the royal palace during the Grand Conclave.
Steal the Last Ember from the king’s crown.
Get out before anyone realizes it’s gone.
But the palace is nothing like the city Lyra knows. Inside its golden halls, power is measured in magic and bloodlines. Nobles smile like predators. Courtiers trade secrets like currency. And two men notice Lyra for all the wrong reasons: the golden prince whose charm hides careful ambition, and the shadowed stranger whose presence makes every instinct she has scream danger.
The deeper Lyra slips into the court, the more the stories surrounding the Ember begin to feel less like legend and more like warning. Aurion’s power rests on a history the crown has spent centuries trying to bury—and the closer Lyra gets to the truth, the more dangerous the job becomes.
Survival was once Lyra’s only goal.
Now the jewel she was sent to steal may expose the lie holding Aurion together—and light the match that burns the kingdom down.
“Everything in Aurion is an illusion. Everything.”
ABOUT
WHITNEY
I’ve always loved stories that make you believe in magic. The kind of stories that pull you into another world, make your heart race, and leave you thinking about the characters long after the last page. That love turned into writing — mostly fantasy with a heavy dose of romance, secrets, and slow-burn tension that simmers until it snaps.
I have an English degree from Trinity College, which mostly just means I spent four years reading amazing books and overanalyzing them for fun. Now I live in Portland, Maine with my husband and two cats who are equal parts cuddly and chaotic. When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, daydreaming about plot twists, or drinking diet coke like it’s my full-time job.
“I’ve spent years learning how to stand in the fire without getting burned.”
